---- A BIT OF HISTORY OF THE TEA CAKE ITSELF ---- 

The delightful dessert holds deep roots in Scottish culture.
During the 1950's in Scotland, the rationing of fat and sugars demanded a product that lasted longer on the shelves than fresh baked goods.
From this demand the Tea Cake was born.

Using a biscuit (cookie) as a base, an almost air-like fluffy meringue marshmallow is piped on top. Then, the entire dessert is covered in a thin chocolate shell. Then the desert is wrapped in a colorful silver & red wrapper, with the larger quantities coming packaged together in boxes of 6 and 10.

Over the decades, the cakes have only grown in popularity. Both in Scotland, and around the world. 
In fact, they've become such a popular snack, that about 150-180 million are produced each year!
They've even been featured during the opening ceremonies of the Commonwealth Games, several times in fact.


Due to its reverence, I knew I needed to make this into a keychain that everyone can carry around.
This way, you can always keep a little piece of Scotland, wherever you may roam.
